OPERATING SYSTEM FOR EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS PARTICIPATING IN THE BOLOGNA PROCESS

Abstract:

This article discusses the operating system , which could be an alternative to Windows for use in educational institutions , which are involved in the Bologna process. This paper presents a comparative analysis of different operating systems , such as Chrome OS, ROSA Education Desktop, Mandriva following criteria: technical requirements , the availability of special programs , ease of use , reliability, propagation conditions . Bologna process involves increasing students´ independent work , distance learning with teachers . For this it is necessary to improve existing computer systems to improve the quality and efficiency of distance learning. Submitted OS must not only conform to the technical requirements and reliability , but also to have an affordable price in order to reduce the costs of computerization of educational institution.
